The problem every large school has

In most schools and colleges in Bangladesh, the routine is still prepared by hand by a small group of senior teachers, on paper and in spreadsheets. At a large campus it takes weeks. The Saidpur school and college where AutoRoutine runs today has more than 4,500 students, over 150 teachers, 99 sections, Bangla and English versions, and both school and college levels. A hand-made routine at that size still ends up with a teacher booked in two rooms at once, or one teacher carrying far more periods than a colleague in the same department.

The rules that make a Bangladeshi routine hard are the ones generic timetable tools do not model. Some subjects run only in alternate weeks. Practical classes need two or more consecutive periods in a lab. Religion classes split one section into separate faith groups at the same time. Some sections merge for a common class, and the class teacher takes the first period.

Absences are handled by memory and phone calls, so the same willing teachers cover again and again. And a printed weekly routine says nothing about the class tests, examinations and holidays that change what actually happens on a given date.

A routine engine that gives the same answer twice

AutoRoutine’s engine generates the weekly master routine for every section. It respects teacher capacity, which teachers may teach which subject, alternate-week subjects, lab blocks, parallel faith groups, merged sections, room limits and the class-teacher rule. The same inputs always produce the same routine, so when a school’s office reruns it after a staffing change, they review the differences instead of checking the whole routine again.

From a weekly routine to every date of the year

The weekly routine is laid onto the academic calendar. Class tests, examinations and holidays appear on the right dates, subject limits per term are respected, and dates that have already passed stay frozen. Each teacher’s lesson plan is tied to the real dated periods, so students and guardians can see in advance what will be taught on which day.

Leave and substitutes without the phone calls

Teachers apply for leave from the mobile app. The request goes through the institution’s own approval chain — coordinator, vice principal, principal — and once it is approved, AutoRoutine assigns a substitute to each affected period from the teachers who are free and able to take it, ranked so the duty is shared evenly.

Every change reaches every teacher

Routines and changes go to a teacher app with notifications, to the web, and by SMS to teachers who do not have dependable internet. Principals, vice principals, coordinators, teachers, students and guardians each see the view that fits their role, and leadership can see teaching load across departments at a glance.
